Mr. Independent

Today Jaxon decided that he needed to learn how to feed himself with the spoon. He does not eat very much baby food anymore but this is how it turned out in the end. He did a surprisingly good job getting the spoon from the container to his mouth. My little boy sure is growing up fast!

Creepy!!

After our walk this morning, Jaxon and I noticed this on the sidewalk in front of our house. Snakes don't always creep me out, but just knowing that that thing was so close to my house or could have been in my house doesn't put a smile on my face.

The Big ONE!!!!

I cannot believe one year ago yesterday Mark and I were headed to the hospital after a morning full of "gas cramps". It is actually a pretty funny story. On July 17, 2008 we were at my niece Robyn's birthday party. For her birthday dinner she wanted these REALLY YUMMY chili cheese enchiladas that Shannon makes. So of course I had to have one, and I thought I would be safe by just having one. So we go to bed that night after watching the movie Nine Months. Sure enough, at about 5 AM I woke up having the worst "gas cramps" I had ever had. All I could think was
DANG THOSE ENCHILADAS!!!
After many unsuccessful trips to the bathroom I started to notice that the cramps were getting worse and worse and that they would only happen like every 5 min. By this time it was like 7 AM and I started writing down every time I would have them. I went in and told Mark he wasn't going to be going to work that day and he was worried he had overslept, but that was not the reason:) I really wanted to shower and do my hair and make-up before we left so I showered. By that time they were getting shorter and shorter and he said "NO, we need to go NOW." Our sweet baby boy Jaxon Eli Allen was born at 7PM that night. Of course he was the cutest new born I had ever seen. After I had several days of complications in the hospital, we were home five days later.

12 months later:
-walking
-running
-flirting
-waving, clapping
-bouncing
-loves to play with balls and any kind of cars
-loves to eat what we are eating, but becoming more picky everyday
-very curious
-very stubborn
-very vocal
-very LOVEABLE
WE LOVE YOU JAXON!

We had his birthday party at the pool with our big ol' family and a few close friends. We had a great time. Our camera battery died, but friends were able to take lots of pictures with their camera....to come later....but here are a couple we got.

We got him his own personal cake to destroy...

BUT....
as you can see there was no destroying, just funny looks!

Best Buddies

Jaxon has been able to spend so much time with his cousin Cassidy lately. He has loved every minute of it:)

Jaxon has to have some of her smoothie!

Summer Splashing

Although I have never really been fond of swimming due to the swimsuit portion of the activity... I have learned to let go of my looks and enjoy it due to the amazingly hot summer and not being able to play outside of the house unless it is swimming with Jaxon. We are lucky to have such awesome friends who let us use their neighborhood pool all the time:)

Mark is a new man!

Mark had his back surgery a little over two weeks ago and is doing GREAT!! He is probably at 90% which is wonderful in such a short amount of time. The surgery went well and he just has to go back every couple of months for the next year to make sure things are still looking good. It is amazing! He is able to do things that he hasn't been able to do for months like pick up Jaxon, feed him, bathe him, play with him(can you tell I am glad he can do things with Jaxon again?!). We are so blessed that he was able to get that done and that he is recovering so well:) Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers!

A couple of days after surgery
